Sleep quality

Beds are firm and well-dressed with excellent linen; a pillow menu is offered on request. Garden-facing rooms are very quiet. Street-facing Classic rooms pick up a little evening noise from the street — if you sleep before midnight, ask for a garden-facing room.

Bathrooms

Bath stone and brass, generous, with good water pressure and consistent hot water. Roll-top baths are in suites only. Toiletries are a house line, decent rather than memorable.

Views & noise

The garden-facing categories are the point of staying here. Street-facing Classic rooms are the trade-off for the entry price. Upper floors are quieter; the stairwell carries lobby music up at night.

Accessibility

Step-free rooms, roll-in shower options, and a lift to all floors. Accessible rooms are available in more than one category — not just the entry level.

Which room to book

Our pick

The Garden Suite is the sweet spot of the range for price versus experience. Step up to the Spa Junior Suite if the spa is the reason for your trip; only splurge on the Royal Suite for a special occasion.

In short

Our view

Quiet, well-dressed, tactile rooms; choose the right category and they are excellent.
